#FindOut Friday Answers 47

Yikes! Is it Friday already? Here are the answers from Tuesday's Trivia (Wrapped in the Rays of the Sun series only). How many did you get right? Comment below!

1. The Papacy - The Papacy, first occupied by Saint Peter (according to Christian tradition), is a monarchy in itself (sort of). The pope is supposed to be a prince and the ultimate leader of the known Christian world. In the fictional book series, especially in the earlier books, the Holy One emulated these real-life popes. The aim of medieval Christianity was to convert, and the fictional one is no better. They would wage a world war and even control voices and bodies to achieve their goals.

2. The Crusades - Pick one. Any one. The Crusades of old were a time when the real-life Catholic Church sent millions, including children, to their deaths fighting the Muslims in the Holy Land. Even though the last major one was in 1291, with the Fall of Acre, the impact was felt and emulated in the coming centuries. In fiction, this would be the world war, first mentioned in Through the Meadow (book three). Originally started because of an unprovoked attack (so it was said), this cruel crusade dragged on for decades and took many with them, children included.

3. Labor Unions - The first book, Casting Shadows, has many detours. One of them was to a factory that made clothes. As the main character, Eleanor "Nora" Brutrose, finds out to her horror, conditions are not ideal for anybody. The changes she orders to be implemented reflect some of the early concepts found in labor unions in the US. Working conditions have not changed in many areas sadly, and child labor and marriage are encouraged to keep the youth from a childhood and rich pockets lined.
