Hello, everyone, and welcome to the first edition of #FindOutFriday of the year! Here are the answers from #TriviaTuesday How many did you get right? Comment below!
"John the Revelator" - I first heard a version of this song on Sons of Anarchy. It was originally a song by William "Blind Willie" Johnson in 1930. He was a gospel blues singer and guitarist. The lyrics describe John of Patmos, or Saint John (as in the Gospel of John fame), talking about his role in the End Times, i.e. the Book of Revelations, hence the title John the Revelator. The character of Graham Revelator is named for this. The fictional figure brought an end to his victims...and he promised more after his own death.
Vaccines - Ahh, the great debate, even today. While I side with science, I have read that vaccines have always caused controversy since their introduction in the eighteenth century. The most known monarchs of that century, like Empress Catherine I (Russia) and King Louis XVI (France), not only took vaccines themselves, but encouraged their court and the people to have them. There was mention of vaccines in Casting Shadows, when the plague finally brought a cure. Obviously, herd immunity did not help those who did not partake. A Queen even lost her life without it in Casting Shadows.
"The Firm" - A nickname often given to the British Royal Family, it refers to their position in government (a business) and how desire and love have to be set aside for duty and the people. It gives a specific set of rules that all working royals have to follow. Some of them have been around for centuries while others keep the family's role relevant. In From Across the Sea, there are examples of royals mingling with commoners. While gossip was rife and everyone spoke freely, some royals did not like the familiarity...and made it known. This is aligned with The Firm's strict hold.
That's it, everyone! Namaste. Have a great weekend!
