#BehindTheScenes 63 - The Next Series

The imaginary world of Enos and the kingdom of Klenard could not last forever. Projects get tiring, ideas are repeated and the characters have an ending I am satisfied with (for the moment anyway). My mind is already racing to the next series. This #BehindTheScenes is going to tell you a little about the next two.

First of all, the name of the next series is Red in our Skies. It will be another imaginary world, with characters who face war and political strife and have to start over. Each character featured will have a voice in the same story, continuing the thread from another point of view. They will not be in a medieval setting, but a place that resembles early twentieth century Europe.

Yes, there is war. But this war is different than any other the four main characters have experienced. What used to be a war against the assassination of a royal family turned into one against families, and everyone was mad at the emperor who supposedly started it all. There are also changes in technology. A conflict against foot soldiers and officers on horses was now machine powered and full of long trenches.

Sounds familiar, right?

It should be.

It's World War I, also known as the Great War.

These two couples are about to experience life beyond their schools and cloistered home life. Once, their mighty empire of a home was strong and an invincible world power. After this long war, double the time of the real Great War, it would turn their lives upside down, and force them to move to a land of plenty when once, they were the enemy.

Yes, yes, I get it. War seems to be a theme amongst my stories. But I want to do more than repeat a few ideas from one story to the next. I thought there would be different aspects of a war to explore. After all, some of the narrators would be heroes of this war, using machines never seen before to win battles.

The next series after this is finished would actually be a continuation of the same world. Named Redemption of the Lost, it follows a member of the next generation through his adventures in the military. Not only does he have trouble with love (his wife, who is another narrator), but he too must endure a world at war, and one started by the country of his birth. When our hero becomes a POW, he must do everything in his power to sabotage the war efforts and escape back to his lines.

Redemption of the Lost does not end with victory. It covers the characters also directing world affairs once the next war ends. The cultural and social impact on these changes would also bring them to decisions they never thought they'd face and reflecting upon a nation built on ideas and not action. The narration does continue the family's saga and how loyalty does not come with a price, but with a conscience.

I don't remember how many books I have planned for each series (I want to say ten plus books?). I don't have a full character list yet. I also have some research to do, to make sure I make the stories as real as possible. There also might be a couple of off-series stories too.

New adventures are coming - you just have to wait.

Namaste!
