Here we are, back for another episode of #FindOutFriday on this autumn day. These are the answers. How many did you guess right? Let me know in the comments below!
IBLP - Ahh, the Institute in Basic Life Principles. It is an Independent Baptist sect, and one that many associate with the Duggars. I won't get into the Duggars' stories, but the main focus of IBLP: traditional gender roles through the "umbrella of authority". Established by Bill Gothard in 1961, IBLP preaches chastity until marriage, strange courtship rituals and large families. The women are more maligned than the men, who are considered superior. IBLP was one of the main ideas behind Mother Church. By making women inferior and births a high priority for their war, they hope to gain control over the world.
The Mother's Cross - Established in three stages in 1938, this was an award given to mothers in Nazi Germany. Since marriage and children were encouraged, women were given rewards for the amount of children they bore. The Mother's Cross was the inspiration behind the fictional Defender of the Generations. In the series, a woman was given this title and special privileges when she bore more than fifteen children in a certain amount of time. The glorification of women constantly producing children was a way to control them, and the fictional Mother Church was the picture of corruption.
Pagan Holidays, Ostara, Midsummer, etc. - I had to make up a calendar and months when developing this story. Some of the holidays I listed in the books are pagan in origin. Ostara was the coming of spring and closely associated with Easter, for example, and it was placed in the springtime. Many pagan names and practices were recreated for Christians. This fictional world is no exception.
That's it, everyone. Have a great weekend! Namaste!
