Welcome to Season 4 of #FindOut Friday, the trivia game with a twist. These are the answers from #TriviaTuesday Which ones did you get right? Comment below!
Large Families - I've been asked if it was possible for a woman to have more than twenty children. The answer is actually yes. There is a list of women who claimed or actually had scores of children. Valentina Vassilyeva was one, a Russian peasant who was said to have over sixty children over forty years. Another family that comes to mind is the Duggars (pictured on social media, with no support from this channel). Historically and religiously, many Christian sects do not support contraception, so there are a lot of large families, even today.
Tet - Miranda and Julia retire to a village on the other side of Cherls called Tet. Although the name was not introduced in Through the Meadow, it is in From Across the Sea. The word Tet is short for Tết Nguyên Đán, or the Lunar New Year. It's celebrated in Vietnam in January or February and it heralds the beginning of spring and symbolizes newness. It's also associated to an offensive sprung on the American forces in Vietnam during a Tet in early 1968.
Fortune Tellers - How cliché. In Casting Shadows, the main character goes to a festival with a friend and they go to a dark tent with a fortune teller. She tells them that the future is going to be bright in the end. Fortune tellers have been a part of history for centuries, even with references going back to ancient times. They are often stereotyped as women who tell the future and used tarot cards or crystal balls. And yes, some of them do, but not all of them are dressed like a cartoon misrepresentation of Romani.
That's it, everyone! Tune in next week for the first edition of #BehindTheScenes Thursdays. Week after that, I'll swap back to #TriviaTuesday so keep your eyes open for the emails. Namaste, everyone, and have a great weekend!
